The Touch of Elegancy

A Modern Residence Designed by Fu-Han Tsai

In a modern world that pursues efficiency, accuracy, and globalization, heavy workloads have become prevalent in contemporary life. Designing a residence that offers a comfortable retreat from the busyness of work has been a significant challenge. The Touch of Elegancy, located in Xitun District, Taichung City, is a modern rest-style house that creates a genuine place for residents to enjoy privacy and relaxation. By paying attention to visual aesthetics and life details, this house meets the requirements of family members.

The Touch of Elegancy stands out with its unique design elements and strengths. The exterior features quality cypress sandblasting, which adds a touch of sophistication. The designer, Fu-Han Tsai, incorporates geometric elements inspired by Piet Cornelies Mondrian, applying them to the main wall and door slats. The lighting highlights the geometric style and bright quality, creating a warm and flexible space. In the dining room, metallic artwork in irregular rectangular shapes adds visual interest. The consistent use of vertical walls and fretwork lighting effortlessly combines visual and real space, creating a powerful visual impact.

With a focus on unique characteristics and abundant details, Fu-Han Tsai combines different materials, geometric shapes, and visual and real elements to create distinct spaces within the house. The result is a residence that offers appropriate space quality and a harmonious living experience.

The Touch of Elegancy spans 396 square meters and was completed in May 2015 in Taichung. The design team, led by Fu-Han Tsai, successfully overcame creative, technical, and research challenges to create a comfortable and modern residence. The bedroom features a bed wall painted in a single main color, while the kids' room is filled with vibrant light through the use of a geometric wooden storage cabinet. The main room preserves the style of Piet Cornelies Mondrian, and variations of light are achieved through woven wall coverings and dangling chandeliers, creating a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere.

This 70-square-meter residence with a mezzanine floor combines classical style with modern comfort. The neat configuration, high-quality construction materials, and carefully chosen colors contribute to its elegant appeal. The main door features a big cabinet and partition made of metallic fretwork, serving as a transition between the porch and living room. The intersecting vertical structures create a sense of depth and intrigue, blurring the boundaries between visual and real space.

The Touch of Elegancy was photographed by CHUN-CHIEH LIU. This exceptional design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Touch of Elegancy stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
